The Akustikon
Accompanied by consternation, lack of understanding and protest, the City of Linz and the Province of Upper Austria forced the Akustikon to close on June 28, 2010 by not funding Acoustic City anymore – despite the promise that Linz 2009 European Capital of Culture was supposed to be a longlasting impulse for the city's culture life. This means that only half a year af the Kepler Salon, a popular discourse format saved by private initiative, literally nothing is left of Linz09 only half a year after the end of the programme.
The Akustikon at Pfarrgasse 9-13 in the Old City with not more then 300 square meters of exhibition space managed to attract 16.000 visitors in one year of service only. Acoustic City and the Akustikon team thank all the visitor and supporters.
